The hull shape has remained unchanged over the years, allowing older boats to remain competitive for many seasons. "a speed machine that can travel as fast as a Flying Dutchman. This is a high performance training boat, and its power to weight ratio is nothing short of phenomenal. One way or another they are hair raising boats, and you need the nerve of a fighter pilot to sail them".John Bertrand VJ Class Specifications

A popular model for the sailor who also needs a cruiser/racer. These boats are known for a good turn of speed, spacious cockpit for up to 6 adults and comfortable sleeping berths for 4 adults. Designed by Doug Peterson and to our knowledge there are 4 designs, Seaway Mark I & II, Seaway Elite and Seaway 787. We are not 100% but this may be the Elite model. The galley comprises of a 2 burner metho stove, sink with manual water pump & approx 25L water bladder, lots of storage for crockery and cooking utensils. A large open head allows the larger person to comfortably access and use the ‘throne’. As the photos depict, large berths for overnighting. The rig is powered by an Evinrude 8Hp 4 stroke motor which offers quiet and economical motoring. The engine is mechanically sound and a written engine condition report has been completed. The trailer, although a 2003 model is sold unregistered. It is a quality Belco design and replacement value is in excess of $10,000. However, the braking system is not functional. Ideal for a ramp trailer when stored on a hardstand such as this boat was. Sails include a Main Sail, Jib, Genoa & Spinnaker (buyer to establish condition & type of sail). Other accessories include Navman Speed 3100 Log, Navman Depth Sounder, GME GX600 VHF radio & aerial, GME GR968 stereo/CD/MP3 & speakers, battery voltmeter, Compass, wood chocks, V-sheet, flares, fire extinguisher, electric bilge pump, navigation lights and stern light, large stern double bed and 2 singles, single battery, isolation switch, battery box, approx 23L portable fuel tank, S/S pushpit, pulpit, staunchons and safety lines, S/S targa with solar panel, sliding roof hatch, fenders, galley folding table, dagger board, cockpit rope bags, boarding ladder, manual start motor, High thrust 4 blade propeller, auxiliary engine bracket, alloy wheels, galvanised springs, axles and trailer frame, manual winch, safety chain on winch post and swingaway jockey wheel. Although a little tidying up is needed in places, this could make for an ideal family/cruiser/day racer rig. Hard to find. The Sabre 22 is a practical and well thought out little yacht and this one has been well maintained, looked after and refurbished at some time. The hull is in excellent condition and the sail wardrobe consists of a main, jib, storm jib and spinnaker with pole. Rewired in 2007 with a new fuse box the soft furnishings were also reupholstered at the same time as well as the keel rope being replaced. The solar panel is also a new addition. The galley consists of a two burner metho stove and a sink with the standard Sabre water tank and supplemented with a 50ltr water bladder. The chemical head is under the forward V berth that has the additional infill’s making a comfortable double bed (4 berth). On the times that you need it the 2006 Tohatsu 9.8hp outboard, with two approx 12ltr portable fuel tanks, will push the rig along at a reasonable clip. Trailered on a brand new Custom Belco fully galvanized tandem trailer with mechanical over ride brakes the trailer alone is valued at $7450.00. If you are in the market for a trailer sailer this one is really worth a look at with other inclusions such as Navman Depth200 sounder, Raytheon Tiller Pilot ST1000 autopilot, GME GX600 VHF radio & aerial, Soundtec stereo, compass, 2 adult life jackets, V-sheet, sand anchor, rope, chain, charts, fire extinguisher and blanket, electric bilge pump, navigation lights, stern light, single battery, isolation switch, 12 gang switch panel, battery holder, bow rails, deep sided pockets, fenders, cabin lights, boarding ladder, removable carpet floor, pre mix motor, tiller steer, manual start, manuals on motor, alloy wheels, tie down strap, galvanised springs, axles and trailer frame, manual winch, safety chain on winch post, winch handle and swingaway jockey wheel.
