TSCQ HAPPENINGS

By tscq, Oct 14 2017 10:00PM

A note to all Manly Combined Clubs Competitors.

A post on MCC website

"The Presentation night has been rescheduled to Saturday the 18th of November.

We have rescheduled it based on feedback that too many people found it logistically difficult to get to the Friday night function.

The format this year will be a little more casual. Instead of a sit down meal, a catered barbecue will provide the nourishment for the evening. ($25 per head)

Full details of the night together with details of how to book will appear on this site in the near future. e rescheduled it based on feedback that too many people found it logistically difficult to get to the Friday night function.

The upcoming long weekend is our annual weekender to Tangalooma, so if you are not sailing in the St Helena Cup, why not join us at this beautiful part of Moreton Bay. We will have a race over from Manly on Saturday with the usual start times, finishing at the Tangalooma resort jetty. The course map can be downloaded from the Documents section on this website. We overnight up behind the wrecks, which is a great spot for snorkelling and swimming the next day. There are cold showers and toilets available in the nearby campground. A permit is required to visit the resort and it is probably too late to get one now, but you can still enjoy a stroll along the beach. The return is a cruise whenever you choose, but most of us will come back on the Monday after breakfast. Don’t miss the chance to have a relaxing long weekend at a superb location with great company.

This year our Wivenhoe weekend includes the Geoff Wallace race on Sunday 22 October. The race remembers Geoff (Marty’s dad) who was a past President, and a very active member from 1969 to 1992. For Geoff, the TSCQ was about having fun and enjoying companionship as much (or more than) winning races.

You can come along for a cruise and a swim on Saturday and/or the club race on Sunday (with the usual start times). The club has booked three powered camp sites at Lumley Hill campground for the Friday and Saturday nights, so bring a tent and enjoy social evenings around the campfire. Each site can accommodate several people, so please let Chop know if you wish to share a club site. Otherwise you can book your own site, but don’t leave it till the last minute.

Be aware that the sites at Lumley Hill have been reorganised and renumbered. Many of the old sites are gone and a lot of new tent and caravan sites have been constructed above the amenities block. The club has booked the same sites as last year, now numbered 35, 36 & 37, which were previously 84, 85 & 86. Prices have increased and discounts have been reduced.

Please refer to the new map and fact sheet in the Documents section of this website.

Non club members are very welcome to join us for what is a very social weekend.

A favourite of many on the racing calendar : Manly combined Clubs' Sandgate weekend.

Hosted by QCYC the Saturday night will be one to remember with great food, music, and friendly staff.

Dear TSCQ members,

Saturday the 22nd of July is a date you will have to save. Important matters will be dealt with and we need you to be part of that. To make sure our club will continue to provide trailer sailing at its best we will form a new committee and you are the best man / woman for the job. Yes that’s right we would like to give you the opportunity to be the next President , Secretary, Webmaster, Treasurer, Handicapper or one of the various other positions as we think you’ll be great at it.

Even if you have an excuse not to run for any of the above mentioned positions (like we would believe that) we really think you should come as it will be a fun social event with X-mas presents, food, drinks, and funny TSCQ people.

Rumor has it that we will have a special appearance of a certain jovial, generous, round bellied guy who is known to shout a few rounds of drinks (yes Chop will be there but I’m not talking about him)

So have a think what you can do for your club the next 2 years and contact Chop if you have any questions and to reserve a seat at the table on the night.

When: Saturday July 22nd

Time: 6:30 pm

Where: The Manly Hotel

See you all there !

The Club Championship and Aggregate Score are based on the points scored in Club

races and Manly Combined Clubs (MCC) series races. With club boats sailing in both

Division 2 and Division 3 of the MCC series, the traditional club scoring system cannot

be used. The committee has decided to trial a new system this year based on the

placing of each boat in both series of races.

Each boat sailing in MCC Division 2 and MCC Division 3 will be awarded points for the

placing obtained in their respective division, based on MCC handicaps. Club

handicaps will not be adjusted after MCC races.

All boats will compete in a single division for club races, which will be scored using

club handicaps. Club handicaps will be adjusted after each club race.

All points scored in both series of race will count towards the Aggregate Score trophy,

and the best ten results for each boat will count towards the Club Championship.

Results for the races already sailed this year will be rescored using the new system.

Scoring for all races, both club and MCC, is as follows:

 A boat, which finishes first, shall score zero points.

 A boat, which finishes last, shall score 100 points.

 All other boats which finish correctly shall score points equivalent to the

percentage of boats in their division that beat them.

 A boat which starts correctly but does not finish (DNF) shall score 110 points.

 A boat which starts correctly but is subsequently disqualified (DSQ) shall

score 120 points.

 A boat which does not start (DNS) shall score 130 points.
